LARGE AGATIZED CORAL HEAD. INSIDE IS COMPLETELY AGATIZED WHILE OUTSIDE SHOWS ORIGINAL CORAL PROPERTIES.
This is a very large specimen which weighs 19 lbs. There is an actual column, going from the top to the bottom, at the front of the specimen. It is not attached except at the top and bottom and is completely coated with botrioydal agatized coral. The chamber inside has a depth of 25cm. The entire chamber is agatized.
The outside shows original coral properties and also the original holes the boring clam Lithophaga drilled which caused the death of this coral. One of the drill holes is agatized with druzy crystals.
