PETER ZODAC
(1894-1967)

We were very fortunate in that when we started collecting minerals back in the 1960's we lived in a small town along the Hudson River in NY called Croton on Hudson. This town happens to be located just south of Peeksill, which was where Peter Zodac lived. Peter Zodac, among many other things, was the founder and publisher of Rocks and Minerals Magazine. Unfortunately he had passed away by the time we had become deeply involved in collecting minerals and crystals and we didn't have the priviledge of meeting him.

We were fortunate though to meet and become acquainted with his niece Winnie Bourne. She was a very warm and friendly person and invited us to see Peter Zodac's house. That was quite an amazing sight to see. The house, attic and basement were piled high with specimens of all kinds, including jars of sand that he collected. There were also many, many books and copies of Rocks and Minerals and other magazines. The only way to navigate was to walk the paths that were made through all the items. The whole house was warped and buckled from the weight of everything and was eventually demolished.

She told us she was going to be selling all the items in the house but if we would like to we could have a few of them. She gave us several specimens and several older copies of Rocks and Minerals magazine. These are the older issues of R&M that we now have for sale on this site. We will be selling the mineral specimens also and they will be noted as those from Peter Zodac's home.

This was a marvelous experience that has stayed with us all these years.

None of our specimens have been repaired or glued together unless otherwise stated in the description of the specimen.
